I've considered that, and I think I'm going to run with that idea.

Octopi ponies would be a GREAT PI breed! I think someone proposed "squid ponies" as a breed at one point, which would also be acceptable. ;D
I'm enjoying this story . . . Moooore.

Tiffany walked by a mirror, and bit back a scream. her eyes were no longer blue but red and yellow demon eyes. two black horns curled up from her eyes. she opened her wings, which suddenly felt heavy, to see the feathers falling off and being replaced by leathery tuffs of fur. her white coat melted off of her to be replaced by a coat of oily leathery scales. something slapped the deck, and she turned to see a long tail coated in leathery scales stretching out behind her. three spikes burst forth from the tip of her tail. Tiffany started to scream, but her cry turned into a guttural growl. hunger seized her belly. She turned to see Salty, who screamed and fled.
That's it, Demonica, embrace your true nature. a male voice whispered into her ear as she gave chase.
Tiffany woke up gasping.
"Its a nightmare, only a nightmare. I'm okay." Tiffany felt her head, no horns, good. She was still a teenager, an alicorn teenager to be precise. Why was she having these nightmares? did it mean that as she grew into an adult, she was going to become a demon? She shuddered, and pushed those thoughts away. She turned toward her window, and watched the night sky lighten as the sun rose. already, her cabin was stifling warm. the day was promising to be hot. Tiffany groaned. it met she would have to stay in her cabin all day again. the heat didn't seam to bother the rest of her family as it bothered her. She got sluggish and the heat caused her to pass out. Tiffany got up and opened her window all the way. She then turned on her fans. her room cooled down to were it was comfortable to her. Twilight brought her breakfast, which was cold fruit and iced juice. Tiffany ate ravenously.
"The weather reports are saying that today's high is going to be around 125 degrees fahrenheit. Looks like you'll have to stay in your cabin again, sweetie. We are almost at the Equator, and after that, it will cool down again as we inch closer to the frozen lands down south." Twilight smiled, "I might hang out in here today."
"Frozen lands? I thought they were up north." Tiffany asked.
"Well, the world has two poles which are always frozen, even in the height of summer. The northern pole is in what is called the Frozen North. way down south where we are going, is the southern pole in what we call the Frozen Lands. We should reach the Equator tonight. the Equater is hot because it gets the full glare of the sun all year round." Twilight explained.
"If the heat is uncomfortable for me, it'll be uncomfortable for them too, thus making me safe from them, right?" Tiffany asked.
"Right. That is why your dad took the Frozen Run. He figured that the heat at the Equator would keep the demons chasing you at bay." Twilight smiled.
"I'm going to go up on deck now while it is still cool. I'll take care of my chores too." Tiffany went outside on deck. She checked the chore list, and found her chores.
"Lets see, I'm on mast duty and It's my turn to clean the gallery." She decided to do her mast duty first. Mast duty met that she must fly up to the mast and scrub bird dropings off of it and make sure the ropes feeding to it weren't knotted up. She scraped the mast first and turned to the ropes.
"Salty, come on! I'm never gonna get this untied!" Tiffany groaned, staring at the mess of ropes, "Better get busy before it gets too hot. at least its cooler up here." Tiffany got to work. the knots proved to be next to impossible to untie, "Salty, I may have to kill you for this!" Finally, the ropes hung free. She restrung them through the bolts of the mast and tied them off. Tiffany noticed that the air was still cool.
"That is odd." She thought, alighting on the mast to rest her wings before heading back down. She loved to sit up on the mast and take in the ocean. She relaxed, enjoying the cool breeze playing in her mane and tail. around her, blue ocean sparkled toward the horizon. She squinted into the distance, just making out a grey line of clouds.
"Oh crud." Tiffany made the conection, "They know they can't cross the Equator but they can travel under a storm. Black Dragon must be controling the storm. That is why its cooler!" She leaned forward, wings extended, and glided down to the deck.
"Mom? Dad? They are coming!" she called.

"What?" Seascape joined her and raised a telescope to his eye, "That is some storm. Are you sure its them?"
"Yes, dad." Tiffany said. "When they get close, I feel them."
"We are going to shock them." Seascape vanished into the wheel house. Tiffany followed. Seascape lit his horn and concentrated. Slowly at first, a mist poured from his horn. the mist rose and enveloped the boat. it spread, coating the nearby islands with thick fog.
"Seastar, Tiffany, you two are next." Twilight said.
"On it!" Seastar lit her horn and began forming thick thunderheads while Tiffany added lightening. Seascape added wind. Twilight gave thunder, and Salty and Barnacle gave rain by the bucket fulls. the powers swirled together and within minutes, it began to pour. thunder sounded as lightening flashed. the Wind whipped into a gale.
"That's one strong storm." Twilight said, "It should confuse them." ------------------------------------------------------------
"Where'd that storm come from?" Shark asked, "I can barely sense our sister in all this rain!"
"Quiet!" Black Dragon ordered, "She outsmarted us!"
"But daddy! She can't make a storm this strong! somebody must be protecting her!" Lucifina pointed out, "She can't be this strong! I'm stronger then she is!"
"Lucy, you are stronger then she is. This storm isn't of her making. She is a contributor to the creation of the storm." Kraken reasoned, "Even my girls are stronger then she is."
"I've lost her sent." Shark grumbled.
"I can track her by following her part of the storm." Black Dragon responded, "Lucy, you are still stronger then she is."
"Then get tracking, love." Satanica purred, brushing by Black Dragon lovingly.
Black Dragon focused his power and connected to the power of Tiffany. silently, he swam toward where her sent was the strongest. ---------------------------------------------------------------
Tiffany watched the rain falling. a streak of lightening arched past her window. it illuminated a wave rushing past the boat. it rocked with the wave, creating a gentle motion much like the one a mother gives pushing a swinging cradle to help her foal fall asleep. thunder rumbled from some where close by. a few seconds later, lightening flashed and Tiffany nearly screamed. there was no mistaking the outline of a giant octopus with a pony head racing toward the ship. there was a thunk as something struck the boat. there was a groan from the engine, then silence. all power flicked off, leaving the tower in pitched darkness. Tiffany screamed. She bumped into things in her panic. Then she realized she could still see fine. Another scream, this time from the deck. Tiffany ran for the deck. once outside, she lit her horn for light. huge tentacles, bigger then she was, coiled around the boat. wood crunched. a large white head rose over the tentacles. Next to the head, but barely visible, was a big Alicorn.
"Give us our sister!" this came from the head.
"Kraken!" Seascape screamed, "Never!"
The boat groaned louder as the tentacles tightened.
"I'll let your boat go, you have my word, once you give up our sister!" Kraken sneered.
"You'll have to get through us!" Salty screamed, holding a harthingy.
"Yeah!" Barnacle had the canon, "Canon ready!"
"Canon Loaded!" Salty loaded the harthingy into the cannon.
"Target, big white head, acquired!" this came from Seastar.
"Canon set! Fire!" the three siblings chorused together, as the cannon discharged the harthingy. trailing the harthingy was a silvery wire, there for a purpose. Tiffany joined them and lowered her horn. Kraken drew a tentacle out of the water and knocked the harthingy aside. the harthingy hit the water. Tiffany lit her horn. the wire sparked, electrifying the water. the Kraken bellowed in shock and pain as Tiffany electrocuted him. his tentacles shot up into the air and shook spasmodically. then they went limp, dropping into the water and causing huge waves. the waves battered the boat and Black Dragon frowned. He winked out and regrouped with the other demons.
"We did it! Us two, Demons nothing!" Seastar cheered.
Behind her, several smaller tentacles rose from the water silently. They snuck around her and before anyone could react, Seastar was yanked off the deck. they heard her body hit the side of the boat then the water. there was a childish giggle and then silence. Baby Sealight sped away from the boat, Seastar wrapped tight in her tentacles. she held the pony so her head was out of the water. Black Dragon watched and smiled.
"I got her!" She waved with glee.
"Back to the island! Father will be proud." Black Dragon lit his horn and vanished, taking the Demons home with him. It would be days until Kraken recovered from being fried.
"Seastar! they got Seastar!" Tiffany wailed.
"We'll get her back. I'm going to call Storm, Captain of the Oregon, for help." Seascape said, "into the tower."
(And here is the rest of the instalment. next part, Tiffany meets Storm, who is not all he seems, and even his ship, the Oregon, holds secrets of her own that can make the rescue even easier.)

When Tiffany first saw the Oregon, she wondered just how it was still managing to float. It was a big freighter with a pitted dirty white tower and a rd orange rusted hull. It had an alarming list to the right, and it looked like it could sink at any time. it carried a large load of something in large containers that covered the deck. several cranes which had clearly seen better days slumped in disrepair against a rusted rotted rail. Seascape stood on the deck of his boat which looked pathetically tiny compared the the colossus that was the Oregon. up on its deck, a dark colored stallion stood next to a bright hot pink unicorn and a brown Clydesdale stallion. The boat and the ship inched closer until Seascape tossed up a thick black chain. there was a loud whir as a crane rumbled to life. the boat rocked, and three more chains were tossed up. minutes later, Seascapes boat was securely lashed to the side of the Oregon. Tiffany finally got a good look at the three ponies. the Clyde was huge. His hooves alone were the size of dinner plates. he towered well over Barnacle, who was big for his size. He wasn't just brown. his coat was more of a brown desert camouflage. his short mane and tail were several different shades of brown in camouflage patterns. the Unicorn was short and slender, her horn long. her eyes were pink crystal eyes, and her mane and tail were bright red. the dark colored stallion turned out to be blue darkening to black on his legs. his hair was short and blonde. Tiffany noticed something else. two identical white scars sat just behind his shoulder blades, and both of his hind legs ended just below his hocks. beyond that, were black metal rods with wide bottoms for better balance. She wondered if he was Storm.
"Seascape." the scared stallion greeted warmly, "You know Linc and Rose."
"Storm. Good to see you again." Seascape greeted, "Rose, you look good. Linc, good to see you."
"Lets go to my office." Storm took them to a dirty office, "Better yet, the mess hall." He led them down into the ship and into a mess hall. like the outside, the inside didn't look much better, "What is happening?"
"Seastar was kidnapped." Seascape was blunt.
"Seastar was kidnapped? Do you know who did it?" Storm asked. Tiffany felt everyone's eyes on her.
"Acid Fire." Tiffany started, "He is a mad scientist who uses living speicmens for his horrible experiments." She continued to explain to Storm what had happened.
"I see." Storm looked thoughtful, "Acid Fire, you say? I know him, personally."
Tiffany could feel Storms anger and knew he would get her sister back, no matter what.
"Are you sure you want to tangle with him again? We almost lost you last time, Chairman." Linc spoke up, his voice soft for his size.
"I know." Storm replied.
"By right, you should have died." this came from Rose, whoes voice was surprisingly masculine.
"I was young and stupid then." Storm looked away.
"What happened?" Tiffany asked, unsure if she should ask.
"months ago, we were given a task by King Flamingstar to deliver a bunch of goods to the Riverfalls outpost on Rivera, which is a tiny island in the River archeplago under King Flamingstars rule. From there, we picked up a tribal leader to transport back to Riverfalls. Well, we ran into Acid Fire and his goons. They capture me, Rose, and Linc. We made an escape, but only Linc and Rose, who suffered an injury to her throat and neck, escaped. I was caught again. Acid Fire tortured me first by breaking my legs then by slowly tearing my wings, yes I am-was a pegasus, off of my body. Bleeding and broken, I made one last attempt for freedom and made it. when the Oregon came, I was very sick and very close to death. I lost both of my hind legs, but Wigwam was able to save my front legs with hours of major surgery." Storm explained.
"When we found him, he was cold and unresponsive. I thought he was dead. he wasn't even breathing. He deteriorated quickly on the way to the ship. Wigwam didn't think he would make it. He owes his life to the tribal leader for saving him." Rose said.
"Acid Fire tore your wings off of you?" Tiffany remembered a bloody stallion being stuffed into a cell several doors down from her own and shuddered, "I think I saw you."
"Were you the little white alicorn who used to sing to me each night back during my time there?" Storm asked.
"Rainbow to westward, foul fall the day, rainbow to leeward, Evil run away." Tiffany remembered, "I still don't recall where I heard that song."
"It was you. You escaped too! I will help you get your sister back. Come." Storm took them to a supplies closet, "The Oregon isn't what she seems." He smiled mysteriously, opened the door, and went to the sink. he turned the knobs like he would a safe and the whole wall, sink and all, swung in neatly into the side wall which had been designed for that purpose.

Eep! I've certainly missed a bunch of updates!
Loved the storm-making. We don't see ponies combine their powers much, but this was a lovely example of it! COOPERATION FTW!!! ;D
And oh no! Seastar! Hope they get her back!
Storm's pretty interesting. So's the Oregon. (There any particular reason you used that name for the ship? *is curious*) Can't wait to see where you go with this!

Everything will be explained in the next update. I am going to say that the reason I chose the name Oregon is because Oregon is my home state even though I live in Washington, and it is the name of a very special ship in The Oregon Files by Clive Custler.
