Why did they take down the fanfic forum on Arena?
It seems a silly reason just to close it because it was unmoderated. I mean if that was the reason (which it probably isn't), the simple solution would be to nominate for a new mod. They might have closed it to make way for a brand new forum.
What do you think?

I don't know and don't understand either, maybe they remove it because it haven't got any mod for a while and because they needed to lock some threads and suspended some users, but ofcorse it's only my opinian.

Frankly, I'm pretty sure it's because only a few people ever actually posted in there. Like, less than fifty people at a time ever actually used it. It didn't do much for the rest of the Arena--most collectors don't read or write fanfic. And the lot of us who DID use it were sorta...cliquey? I guess? Not in a bad way, but...oh, I don't know, it's hard to explain.
Not to mention the RPs--nothing against them, but once one is started, that's gonna be a LONG thread with only five people participating in it. Especially when the players are making posts that are only one sentence long (drives me CRAZY when I see that. Single-sentence posts don't move the story along; they just hold up traffic and make unnecessarily long threads).
The point is, with the small amount of traffic and crazy-long threads, the fanfic forum was probably just extra deadweight that the Arena staff didn't feel like worrying about (or possibly paying for, considering the fact that they've probably gotta pay for their server or whatever the technological term is). Appointing a new mod wouldn't do anything to help--the forum needed to go.
Frankly, I'm kinda glad it did. I like it here much better. ;D

I asked around and got the real reason it was closed down. They did give it a new mod, Loa. the problem was that it was used by only thirteen people in the last few months. Personally, I would have waited until well into Summer to shut it down. A lot of users are in school, and school work takes up a lot of time. I have been hanging out in the customs foreum, but its not the same. I like it here a lot.

Well as I know Lola is the MLP Arena's site admin for a long time, but I agree they should wait a few more month especially because it's April now and the exam season starts soon so many students are very buisy to preaper to it like I do.

I was sad to see the board go, though I can understand if the site owners felt it was using more than its fair share of bandwidth for the number of people using the board. I wish the MLP community as a whole was more enthused about fanfiction.
I do enjoy this board, though. It seems better equipped for kicking around fanfiction ideas. ^_^

*cough* Is it bad that I'm actually maybe sorta kinda looking forward to whenever this latest incarnation of the MLP line dies in the hopes that it'll lead to an influx of fanfic readers/writers? Because that would be AWESOME.
(And besides, ever since this Core 7 thing started I haven't bought a single new pony in stores. These days I just get whatever I find in thrift shops and yardsales.)

I was sad to see it go too. I know there were only a few people interested in it, but now that there is no more fanfic forum there, it's going to be harder to find new people, you know? It's easier to just open a forum on the arena than to go all the way here. Which isn't bad for us people who already go here, but it might make it a bit harder for new people to find us.
I also didn't quite get why the fanfics had to move to offtopic. Why not the art forum? Writing is also some form of art.

I'm glad I checked out the fanfic forum when i did because they deleted it the next day. I wasn't too happy about it at first but I think I like the fanfics here much better.
I think it might help to adventive this board in our siggies and websites. It might help bring in more people.

The worst thing is the new members who just register now or in the future to the Arena, they'll find only a removed fanficforum and they won't find the way here because there aren't any announcment or anything which would bring them here. When I learned that the fanficforum will be removed than I sent a pm to Lola and asked her to put out anouncments at the Arena which brings the members here, well she put anouncment only at the fanficforum part, which alredy removed whit the fanficforum Caleum: I can't find out the core 7 either, they are so mean and I hate the pesonality cultus which is around Pinkie Pie "the boss and the barain". yuch! PS: Maybe Minty is silly but isn't stupid to han whit that 7 mean pony.

Down with the core seven! They are boring! All they do is party all of the time! Dora the Explorer is much more interesting then the core seven! (Can't believe I just said something else is more interesting then MLP) Even Worlds Apart, (Luna's story) is better then what Hasbro is rolling out! My daycare kids beg me now days to read them a chapter or two of Worlds Apart, Royal Destiny, or even Kingdom Lost! Why, earlier this afternoon, my daycare kids were playing Get Luna, and it was cute! my three daycare boys were pretending to be the black ponies while one of my five daycare girls was playing Luna. they even had two of the older girls playing Buster and Charades. my remaining two girls are only nine months old, and they were playing with two of my G1 ponies. the core seven ponies? they were laying in a heap on the table outside. It takes more the seven ponies to make a town. I have only bought several G1 ponies on EBay, and several other G1s at a local garage sale. no core seven.

Aww that could be cute, anyway Luna and her friends even had pool party or they went to the beach, but the Hasbro pones too lazy to do those things, but I would happily see a Beach or Pool Party episode.

I agree with you, Sunstar. It's not that I have anything against the core 7 ponies themselves, but the whole idea of having just 7 ponies is just.... bleh. And it could work, if they actually had some kind of personality, or if they actually did something, you know? The old ponies inspired me so much to make up my own stories and create worlds and characters, but these just have parties... And even little kids know life is not just one big party.
Toys should inspire children, and I'm pretty sure children pick those toys that do inspire them. It makes me sad that ponies went in this direction, because I don't see them being all that popular anymore...
