This fic is rated 16+ for violence, language and gore and stuff. You read at your own risk. The prologue starts out quite grim, but it does look up. I suggest that if you don't like blood, then you don't read this.
This fic is written, antro style.
The Assassin Chronicles
It was dark, yet the silver moonlight spilled across into the dark alleyway where she lay. Life was dark, life was empty. She'd only just realized it now. Life had no real meaning to a street rat, struggling to survive.
Her gang, or rather - the gaggle of boys she had roamed with used to have fun, if a hard time. They'd get kicked for stealing a loaf of bread to share between the group, but now her. Out of the whole lot, she was the only one who had enough talent, if you'd call it that, to sneak up soundlessly and steal not one, but three loaves of bread.
Now that gang - who she'd helped with pride, had beaten her and left her for dead. She was of no further use to them.
Now she lay under a rickety wooden bridge, in the cold, stinking mud, too weak to move. Too weak to try to stem the flow of lifeblood escaping from her body. Her wings were broken, her ribs crushed. She had a shattered elbow, gashed legs and face, and a deep stab wound in her side. The Gods only knew how they had gotten hold of that knife, the knife laying just two paces away from her still form, its silver blade glittering in the moonlight. The docks above were quiet - no wonder, no one was about. No one would help her, even if she could shout.
Lying completely still was all she could do, but it was torture for her. She was always raring to go, full of energy but now - paralyzed with pain, broken wings, unable to talk, let alone shout, and half blind - one of her eyes was slashed right down the center. It was sheer torture.
Slowly her body started shutting down, her shivers starting to cease. Having to blink to regain her focus, even as the world started slipping away from her, faster than before. Her breathing was already laboured, but now it became frantic as her lungs fought for air in this suffocating place.
All the while, she didn't notice a silent shadow, just watching, waiting, until the moment before she slipped into blissful unconciousness.
The shadow moved towards her.
Dark Star would rise again.
Prologue finished!!! xD
